Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced this morning that tax returns normally due on April 15th will not be due until July 15th this year. U.S. taxpayers are being granted this three-month extension to file their taxes because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Previously, the IRS had extended the time to pay taxes until July 15th but maintained the April 15th filing deadline. All filings and payments are now due July 15, 2020. You may certainly file earlier than that date if you wish.
The IRS expects to continue to issue refunds on time.
